Chapter 1 falling…


Manic felt himself falling out of consciousness unable to control it Robotnick had caught him he was trying desperately to break the bonds holding him down but it wasn’t working he was getting weaker as he fell further and further out of consciousness “where are Sonic and Sonia?” he thaught to himself “this is all my fault” he told himself

Flash back…

“leave me alone” Manic shouted as he walked off away from his brother and sister he was sick of them telling him off for stealing he couldn’t help it but he wasn’t going to stop it either he carried on walking then turned the corner and was gone.

“He is going to get himself into trouble come on” Sonic said following Manic the turned the corner to find the street deserted…

Manic was walking along completely unaware of the figures down an ally he didn’t notice them until it was to late they pounced on him placing a hand over his face to stop him screaming he recognised the hand as Sleets sleet turned him round so he was facing him while dingo grabbed Manic’s hands and tied them behind his back Manic struggled but was dragged down a nearby ally where he felt a sudden prick in the side of his neck and he fell unconscious…

Manic woke later to find himself still bound with a piece of cloth fastened over his face to stop him from being able to scream for help, trapped inside a cage Manic sat up with difficulty and looked around the room he was in he instantly recognised it as a room in Robotnick’s place but did not recognise the room it’s self Manic tried to pull his hands free of the rope tightly fastened round his wrists trapping his hands behind his back but it had no effect at all so Manic tried a different approach he looked around the room for something close by that would help him escape but there was nothing in sight he heard the cage door behind him get unlocked and he was dragged out by the scruff of his neck “ah the day when the freedom fight will end dawns” said Robotnick he then turned and made to exit the room he stopped at the door and said “bring him” Sleet picked Manic up off the floor and threw him over his shoulder after a long painfully slow lift ride Manic was put down on a table and his hands where untied but before he had time to react he was pushed backwards so he was now lying on the table as soon as Manic was lying back robotnik pushed a button and four bits of metal sprung up from the sides of the table and then moved over his wrists and ankles then they disappeared through slits in the table and tightened holding his wrists and ankles flat on the table Manic was unable to move

End flashback

Manic let a small whimper escape him as he fell completely unconscious the last things he remembered was a portal opening below him and he began to fall through and robotnik’s evil grin as he said “goodbye forever Hedgehog” and the very last thing he saw was Sonic and Sonia bursting through the door Robotnik releasing the restraints and him falling through the portal completely and he knew no more…


Chapter 2: whole new world

Manic was comfortable in this bed lying in the sheets quite happy he felt himself coming round and woke up as he did the memories of what happened came flooding back he knew he was no where near his own word and was scared he looked around as the door was opened and in came a light brown two tailed fox
“Oh you’re awake are you ok” it asked Manic nodded noticing the fox was definitely younger than he was
“What’s your name I am Miles Tails Prower but my friends call me tails” he said Manic glanced around the room and said
“My name is Manic Hedgehog and I just get called Manic” he replied the fox nodded slightly
“Sonic will be pleased to hear you are awake he has been worried about you ever since he found you” Manic whipped around from his looking around the room again
“Sonic?”  Tails nodded and looked at Manic in a curious way
“Where am I” Manic asked again looking around the room
“You’re at my house in my spare bed you have been for the last couple of days” Tails replied
“Ok but where is you house” Manic asked
“On earth duh where else would it be” a voice said from in the door way Manic looked around and felt his face fall he was looking at Sonic but it wasn’t the Sonic he knew for one he didn’t have a medallion and his voice was different Manic felt totally alone but Manic let his attitude get the better of him and gave Sonic the same cocky response that he had just been given
“Well it could have been at my home but I guess not” Manic replied then he did what he always did when he needed soothing pulled out his drumsticks and played a riff on the side of the bed he let the beat sooth him and Sonic just leaned against the wall and watched a grin on his face
“You are a good drummer” he said Manic looked at him and nodded
“How long have you been drumming for?” Sonic asked
“Since I was old enough to hold a fork and spoon in my hands on my own, drumming is my natural talent” Manic replied
“Cool my natural talent is speed” Sonic replied and felt slightly annoyed when Manic rolled his eyes and looked away Sonic got the feeling that Manic was sick of hearing Sonic boast about his speed but didn’t understand how since he had never met this green hedgehog before in his life
“I know what your natural talent is Sonic so please don’t boast at me about it” Manic said Sonic stared “how did you know” he asked, Manic shrugged
“I know you at home but you are different” Sonic tilted his head a little
“Where I come form you are my brother older by an hour and we have a sister who is the middle one and I am the youngest” Manic said Sonic stared
“What I have a brother and a sister where you come from and you are my brother” Manic nodded and Sonic added “where exactly do you come form?”
Manic shrugged and said “Mobius but I must exist in a whole ‘nother world” Sonic raised his eyebrows
“You mean an alternate universe” Manic stared at him
“There’s a lot of long words in that” he said Sonic gave a cocky smile at Manic which he returned
“So I am your brother in some weird sort of way then?” Sonic asked Manic shrugged again “I guess” he said Manic stood up and Sonic took in Manic’s full appearance an emerald green hedgehog the same age as him with his quills in a messy spiky style some of them fell over his face but he pushed them back out of his Sapphire blue eyes that had a slight sparkle to them Manic was wearing a pair of trousers that Matched his fur a white t-shirt and a red Jacket with his pack fastened round his waist from which poked two drumsticks (I know this is not the case clothing wise in the actual cartoons but I don’t care)  it was now that Sonic realised he didn’t know his name so he asked what it was Manic grinned “my name is Manic” Sonic instantly noticed how much his name suited him Manic was about ready to crack so he  turned and walked into the clear part of the room  here he reached for his medallion he let out a sigh of relief when he found it was still there Sonic looked at Manic again “what are you going to do?” he asked
“see if it still works I will litterly die without my drum kit” and with that he rubbed is medallion and jumped up and down when it activated and became his drum kit “yes” he said “wow that’s awesome” Sonic said Manic stared and said
“that is weird this is going to take some getting used to I have to get to know you all over again it’s strange” Sonic looked at him
“Tell me what the Sonic you know is like” he said
“Well the Sonic I know is a guitarist for one but he is also one of the most big headed, impulsive, aggravating, annoying, impatient people I have ever met but under that he is also the nicest biggest hearted person I have ever met” Manic rolled his eyes and clapped his gloved hands onto his face “my god it’s happening I am becoming Sonia”  
“so he isn’t much different than this faker then with the exception of the guitar playing” a voice said from the door both Sonic and Manic whipped around Sonic rolled his eyes “I am not the faker you are” and Manic just stood there feeling a little stupid
“Whatever… faker” the hedgehog in the doorway said then he turned to Manic
“I’m Shadow the hedgehog who are you?” he asked Manic looked at him
“I’m Manic hedgehog his little brother in an alternate universe” Manic replied
Shadow rolled his eyes “thought so you sort of look like him but at least you aren’t a faker like him” Manic just looked at this black hedgehog thinking he was very lucky his Sonic wasn’t there because he wouldn’t have let Shadow get away with that Sonic looked at Shadow and said “shut up Shadow I am not a faker you are the fake not me” Shadow glanced at Sonic “do you want to get beaten by me again or are you going to shut up” he said coolly Sonic rolled his eyes and Manic decided to step in “that’s enough” he said stepping between them Shadow looked at Manic and said “yep I have had enough of listening to this faker” and with that Shadow turned and walked out of the room then came back in “Sonic your girlfriend is here” Sonic looked at him
“Oh no not Amy, and she is not my girlfriend I can’t stand her you know that” Sonic left the room and Shadow closed the door just as a shriek of Sonic’s name cane floating in Shadow shuddered then he looked at Manic “I cant stand her she is so annoying” Manic shrugged he knew people that where so annoying he wanted to punch them in the face every time he saw them Manic now sat at his drum kit and began to play a riff Shadow watched and leaned against the wall the beat was quite good and he felt slightly soothed by it when Manic stopped he looked up to see Manic’s drum kit disappear to be replaced by a drum shaped Medallion around his neck “I want to go home” he said to himself Shadow felt slightly worried (a alien feeling for him he had never felt it before but he ignored this feeling)  for Manic “are you ok” he asked Manic shook his head in reply “no I miss my family already and I just want to go home and do my job” Shadow tilted his head to the side slightly Manic smiled a little “it’s strange but I never realised how much I depend on Sonic and Sonia god I was right I am a burden to them I cant even get my self out of trouble when butnick is involved” Shadow tilted is head again
“What do you mean?” he asked
“well I don’t have any powers Sonic had his speed his guitar and his spin dashes and everything else he has, Sonia has her super spins and all I have is my medallion and my drumsticks I mean I know my powers are the strongest of the lot but that doesn’t help when I can’t reach my medallion” Shadow was curious as to what Manic’s powers where and asked what they where “I can control the earth you know create earthquakes and stuff, well I could weather I can still do that I don’t know I am not on Mobious anymore so I might not be able to now” Manic replied
“So give it a go” Shadow suggested Manic activated his medallion again and looked around “this might not be the perfect place to try it” Manic said his drum kit disappearing again at that moment the door opened and Sonic came in followed by a pink hedgehog Manic guessed she was the annoying hedgehog Shadow had mentioned earlier she came over and started talking to Manic she was speaking very fast and Manic was only taking half of it in when she stopped he looked at her “listen dude you are going to have to speak slower than that if you want me to be able to understand a word you are saying to me because I cant understand you at all you are speaking way to fast” Sonic and Shadow behind Amy looked quite satisfied and when Amy began speaking at the same speed again beamed when Manic looked at her spoke over and said “please shut up sorry but you are annoying me and if you don’t I will hit you with this drumstick I know we only just met  but I knocked my Sonic out when I first met him when he ignored me” Amy’s face fell and she looked as if she had never been spoken to like that in her life Manic shrugged “sorry but I have warned you so don’t push my buttons please” he said then Amy got a grip on her self “that’s not very nice you know I am a girl and it’s not nice to threaten girls and if you hit me I will hit you back” Manic raised his eyebrows “do you think I care if you are a girl or not? I don’t let people speak to me like that I like to be able to understand what is being said to me” as Manic had said this tails and the others had been on the way in and had seen and heard everything Manic had said then he apologised “sorry but that’s the kind of person I am” then he turned and flopped face down on the bed “wow” was all Shadow could manage to say at this Amy spun around and Shadow shrugged “you have no idea how long I heave wanted to say that to you” then he walked out of the room and they all heard the door opening and closing Amy’s eyes had filled with tears then she wailed “why does everyone hate me?” Sonic rolled his eyes “everyone doesn’t hate you Amy” she turned “really?” Sonic nodded slightly and Amy gave Sonic a hug and left as well….


Sonic and Sonia stood and stared in horror at the spot where Manic had been lying only minuets before Sonic snapped “WHERE DID YOU SEND HIM BRING HIM BACK” he shouted but Robotnick simply grinned at Sonic “no I can’t bring him back hence the words “goodbye FOR EVER” he said “YOU EVIL” Sonic stopped short of saying what was on his mind then he spoke in a voice of determined calm “at least tell me where you sent him” Robotnick thought for a moment then decided there was no harm in telling them where their brother was “I sent him to an alternate universe a universe in which Manic and Sonia don’t exist well Sonia doesn’t however in this universe there is only Sonic and his only family is his friends however you seem to be the same pain in the rear there as you are here but no prophecy no Queen Aleena no nothing the only thing that exists in that universe now from this one is Manic” Robotnick finished and Sonic turned around “you wont get away with this butthead I will find a way to get Manic back” and with that he took Sonia’s hand and took off….

Manic had been in this new universe for the last three weeks and he was amazed by how beautiful everything was everyone could tell Manic was hiding something and that thing was the whole master thief thing and the whole in my world I am a prince thing he didn’t know how to tell them Manic got along with Shadow best of all as they both had personalities that matched. Manic and the others where simply out for a walk (a run in Sonic’s case) when they bumped into a bat standing on the corner “hey Rouge what you up to” the bat turned around and looked at all of them “hey guys then she spotted Manic “oh hi I am rouge and you are?” Sonic spoke before Manic had a chance “this is Manic he is my brother in an alternate universe Manic this is rouge she works for the government” Manic looked at her “cool” she looked at him “yeah it’s cool I get to steal precious gems and get away with it” she said shrugging Manic’s eyes widened slightly “you are a thief” rouge nodded “in short yep” Manic shook his head “I never was able to steal stuff for myself I always gave it away except maybe drumsticks” everyone stopped to stare and rouge gave a grin “yep I can relate to that I hate stealing for other people but I do it a lot it gives me a buzz as I know I am doing good” Manic nodded “yeah I mostly steal food and stuff” this chat was cut short by a huge robot with a fat man sitting in it came crashing through the trees “EGGMAN” Sonic and the others said a voice came form it “lets see you crush this one you over eccentric hedgehog” Sonic growled and went into a spin dash which had no effect Manic had another idea he activated his medallion and played a riff a green laser shot out of it and hit the robot it went straight through it and the robot collapsed to the ground “no” Eggman shouted Manic twirled his drumsticks “get behind me” he shouted the others all did as told as manic began drumming he was praying it would work and as he drummed the ground began to crack and Eggman’s new machine fell into a big hole “NO” the hole closed up and there was another green flash and Manic’s drum kit was gone “awesome” Sonic said turning to Manic “where did you learn to do that “those are my powers I have control over the earth” Manic replied coolly “well that totally rocked” Shadow said “I wonder why my spin dash didn’t work” sonic said thoughtfully “maybe because my machine was made from solid mobibendum” Eggman said Manic did a double take “mobibendum? How did you get that?” none of the others knew what on earth mobibendum was “my accomplish Dr Robotnik in an alternate universe has been giving it to me through a portal” Eggman stated Manic suddenly ran up to him “where is that portal let me use it to get home” Manic said “NO” Eggman replied simply Manic narrowed his eyes “let me use it or you will be sorry I will make sure of it and you should know I am not afraid to let you join you little toy down there” Eggman stared “I don’t care what makes you think you have any authority over me?” Manic folded his arms “I am prince” he said simply Eggman raised his eyebrows “yeah right in your imagination I guess right?” Manic shook his head “nope I am the son of Queen Alleena the rightful Queen of Mobius and trust me when Robotnik goes down you will too the prophecy said so” Eggman looked at him “no the prophecy lied Queen Alleena’s brats don’t exist” Manic looked at himself “oh well I didn’t know I didn’t exist” Eggman then made things easier for Manic “if you are really Queen Alleena’s brat you will have one of the three royal hedgehog medallions either a guitar a piano or the drum kit Manic pulled his Medallion out from in his t-shirt and Eggman stared at it “fake” he said “the medallions have great powers” he said “what you mean this?” Manic asked again activating his medallion Eggman stared “no that’s not possible” Manic nodded a slight grin passing over his face “I would show you some but it needs time to regain full power first then I will kick your butt so hard you wont be able to sit down for months” Manic said deactivating his medallion again Eggman’s ship then floated over him and he was gone “now that was cool” Sonic stated the others all nodded in agreement “a prince who is a thief… now that is cool” Shadow said Manic felt his cheeks go red and was thankful for his fur that hid the blush very well “erm…thanks I think” Manic replied Shadow looked at Sonic “your quiet for a change what’s eatin at you?” Sonic looked at Shadow then at Manic “you are a prince and a thief?” Manic nodded “yeah I am both I was separated from my family when I was just a baby and was brought up by a thief called Farrell I had no idea who I was until I met Sonia and Sonic a few months ago” Sonic nodded now understanding “I still don’t get those medallions” Manic shook his head “we all have one they are the key to our strongest powers Mine is the drum kit obviously and it gives me control over the earth making my powers the strongest of the lot Sonic’s gives him the laser that I have and so does Sonia’s but the medallions are not just weapons they are instruments as well so I can use mine as a drum kit and like wise for Sonic and Sonia” Sonic nodded “cool so what does my other part play and how bout Sonia?” Sonic asked “you play guitar and Sonia plays piano and we are a band too which rocks” Manic replied “awesome” Manic grinned “what do you think the band is called?” Shadow scoffed “I bet it has Sonic’s name in it somewhere” Manic nodded “you got it” Shadow shrugged then said “I am blank now” the others nodded also blank “it was Sonic’s idea we used Sonic’s name because it went better with the second word which is underground so the band is called Sonic Underground” Tails jumped up and down “I like it… it’s good I would love to hear you guys play” Manic shrugged “maybe one day little buddy” Tails grinned “that wont happen if I don’t get home and if I am going to do that I need to find that portal” Manic said looking in the direction the egg carrier went in “my best bet is that way” he pointed in the direction he was facing “you cant go there alone you don’t know where to go and you don’t know your way around Manic turned around to look at Sonic “hey if Eggman’s place is anything like buttniks place I will know it like the back of my hand I can use the air vents like I always do” Shadow stared “air vents” Manic nodded “yep they are always big enough” Sonic shrugged “at least try tomorrow” Manic nodded “ok besides I need to let the Medallion fully charge anyway or I wont be able to use it” then the group all headed to tails’ house again Sonic running ahead and Manic and Shadow walking along chatting “So what does the Sonic in your world look like?” he asked Manic glanced over at Shadow he raised his hand up to his messy quills and flattened them “like a blue version of this except he has green eyes the exact shade of my fur actually” Manic then ruffled his quills and they stood up on end again “Shadow snorted as a quill fell down over Manic’s face and poked him in the eye Manic shoved it out of the way and held a hand over is face cursing “OW stupid…quill always falling down and poking me in the...eye” they arrived at tails home surprisingly fast and went inside Rouge had left a while ago and the others carried on home and “thank god no more Amy” Manic thought to himself Shadow seemed to be thinking along the same lines and Sonic went to his room and shut himself in Tails went into the kitchen and Sonic came out five minuets later to the smell of chilly dogs “Tails hurry up already I want some of those you are making me hungry” Manic shook his head “Sonic and his chilly dogs” then he pulled a face “yuck” Sonic looked horrified “you don’t like chilly dogs?” he asked Manic shook his head “nope Sonic made sure of that we had a mission once that involved chilly dogs I ate so many on that day I haven’t been able to eat them since” Sonic shrugged then said “all the more for me” then he said “ahh” but before he could say anymore Manic finished his sentence “let me guess a work of art?” Sonic stopped half way to taking a bite of one “who did you know what I was gonna say?” Manic shrugged then removed himself from the room Shadow watched Manic leave and followed him out he found Manic sitting on what most people called a balcony but Shadow called It a but of extra window sill because it was tiny he noticed Manic looked a little upset “hey are you ok?” Manic looked around “I just want to go home I mean call me selfish but I really do want to go I never realised how much I need Sonic and Sonia and the other guys I have a job to do and for some reason not doing it makes me feel bad” Shadow tilted his head slightly “I know how you feel I never realised how much I needed Maria until she was gone if you tell me your job I will tell you mine” Manic glanced over “I am a freedom fighter trying to keep everyone safe from the robotasizer and find my mother” Shadow blinked “robotasizer?” Manic nodded “it isn’t nice at all the robotasizer takes away everything you have you freedom you free will butt head tells you to do something and you do it but it gets worse parts of you are replaced so you are left half person half robot” Manic shivered and looked away “he took away everyone from me Farrell and all of my friends from when I was a kid the only thing I have now are my family and even then I cant have all of them only my siblings” Shadow placed a comforting hand on Manic’s arm “hey we will get you back now I will tell you that my job it to protect this planet that was the final wish of my one and only friend Maria not long ago” at Manic’s questioning look he added “I was with Maria a human girl who was my best friend the grand daughter of Dr. Ivo Robotnick” Manic did a double take “what?” Shadow continued “he was killed by GUN they where looking for me and the killed Maria but she got me out set me free at her sacrifice so she died and I was left to bear the guilt of getting her killed so I kept my last promise to her to protect this planet” Manic was staring “butthead had a granddaughter?” Shadow looked “What?” Manic looked Shadow in the eyes “Shadow the doctor isn’t dead he is alive and I know because he rules Mobious where I come from” Shadow fell off the chair he was sitting on “what? We are going to find that portal and I am going to tare him apart limb from limb”               
Shadow said quickly Manic stared “really when” Shadow looked at Manic “how bout now” Manic nodded as Sonic came over “what’s up guy’s” he asked Shadow looked at Sonic “you coming faker? We are gonna go find that portal because Maria’s grandfather my creator is still alive” Sonic stared then nodded Shadow pulled a chaos emerald out of his quills and took Sonic’s arm Sonic them took Manic’s arm and Shadow then said “Chaos control” then they where gone

Sonic and Sonia had now ran into trouble they where sitting in tied to chairs in a room with a slightly glowing portal in it they struggled against the bonds but stopped when the portal suddenly glowed brightly and a familiar figure ran through “Manic” Sonic said Manic turned “Sonic Sonia what are you doing here?” Manic asked going over and untying them “Oh you know just hanging” Sonic said Shrugging at that moment the portal glowed again and Shadow and Sonic came through Sonic’s jaw dropped “now that is scary” he said pointing at the other Sonic he turned and they both gaped at each other Manic raised a hand and ran it through his quills “yeah this is Sonic and Shadow they come from the other universe” Sonic (su sonic) stared “ok this will be confusing” everyone nodded but shadow helped “well you don’t have to call him Sonic just call him faker like I do” and for probably the first time Sonic agreed “yeah just call me faker I pay attention then” (a/n the sonic x sonic will now be referred to as faker) Shadow stared “I was expecting you to point out that I was the fake” Faker shrugged “what ever now what will we do?” Manic looked around “easy escape” “oh very clever Manic your smartness is proceeding you” Sonic commented “shut up Sonic lets get out of here” Manic said “ok when you tell us how” Manic looked at Sonic “easy we take the thieves highway like normal” he said pointing to the air vent cover Sonia rolled her eyes “you have no chance Manic hedgehog I am not getting dirty” Manic rolled his eyes “you sound like Amy now shut up and get in” Sonia stood there and then admitted defeat and climbed in “come on I want to get out of here while I am still young”
